Humane birthday parties are two-hour programs held in the MHS education classroom and include the following:
Your choice of cat, dog or small companion animal party theme
A one hour program that includes an animal-themed game, craft activity, animal visit and tour of the shelter
Use of the educational classroom for a one hour birthday party immediately following the program
Eco-friendly party supplies and decorations
Treat bags for each child with a special gift for the birthday child
Birthday child will name a new adoption animal (choose dog, cat or small companion animal)
Party times Saturdays: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. OR 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Humane Birthday Parties are for children turning six years or older. Our facilities allow us to accommodate a total of 12 children. During summer camp (mid-June through mid-August) we are not able to host birthday parties.

Humane Birthday Tours Humane birthday tours can be reserved any time during regular business hours. This 45-minute program includes the following:
A small gift for the birthday child
Tour of shelter
Fee: $50 Birthday tours are limited to 12 children total
Aquarium of the Bay at San Francisco's Pier 39 offers AquaTot birthday parties for children ages 2–5 and themed parties, including Shark Party, a Tropical Fish Party or a Tidepool Treasures Party, for children ages 6–12.
Parties can be held most Saturdays and Sundays from 11 am to 2 pm. Each party last for two hours and costs $500 for up to 35 children.
Have a birthday party in a REAL art gallery! Take a gallery tour, visit an artist studio, and choose from projects in many different mediums including clay, acrylic painting, block printing, mosaics and more!
Parties are held at the Marin Society of Artists Gallery 1515 3rd Street in downtown San Rafael and include:
Art Monsters Logo Tee for every child
One Project with approx. 45 minutes of instruction
Short Gallery Tour
Visit to an artist studio
A half hour for snacks and cake
Birthdays at the Bay Area Discovery Museum have been voted Best Kid’s Party in Marin three years in a row. All birthdays offer plenty of party time in one of their private rooms, plus unlimited fun for your guests throughout the Museum. They do parties every Saturday and Sunday. Your HIGH ENERGY party will be packed full of ACTION and run 1hr. and 45 min. long for only $225. The $225 will be your deposit and covers the12 participants, including the birthday child. Each additional participant costs $15, payable at the end of the party. ( Note: We consider anyone who is able to move freely on his or her own as a participant, this is usually, but not limited to, children 1 1/2 yrs. of age.) Birthday parties at the Academy are held on Saturdays and Sundays, and availability is extremely limited. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance. Parties include 2-hour use of a private decorated room, light refreshments, cupcakes, juice and milk, dedicated staff, crafts and activities, a tour (including behind-the-scenes), a special gift from the Academy for the birthday child, and more.
Marin's only remaining bowling alley offers birthday parties after 11 am weekends and most times on weekdays. Reserve at least two weeks in advance. Food available on site at Marin Pizza Man. Call (415) 456-4661 Monday–Friday, 11 am–4 pm to reserve.
