Novato Space Festival

Celebrate all things outer space at the annual Novato Space Festival at the Pacheco Plaza shopping center. This fun and educational family event is presented by the Space Station Museum and takes place Sunday, August 6 from 10 am to 4 pm at the museum and on Pacheco Plaza's Center Stage. Admission and parking are free! Over 4,000 people attended this event last year.

Meet real astronauts including Al Worden, who participated in the Apollo 15 moon mission; shuttle crew members Jerry Ross, Nicole Stott, Bruce Melnick, and Dan Bursch; and Novato's own shuttle astronaut Yvonne Cagle. This year, families with children 12 an under will get early admission at 9:30 am and can attend a special book reading by astronaut Jerry Ross in the museum's Moon Room.

In addition to meeting legendary astronauts, visitors will also get a chance to check out over 30 different space exhibits, as well as the Space Station Museum's exhibits.

For more information, visit or call (415) 883-1948. Pacheco Plaza is located on Ignacio Boulevard in Novato. You'll find the Space Station Museum at 464 Ignacio Boulevard between Marin Coffee Roasters and Boca Pizzeria. Admission is free!

If you haven't been to the Space Station Museum in Novato, it's really worth the trip. It's a wonderful free educational resource where kids can learn about space exploration in a hands-on environment. Objects on view at the museum are part of the collection of the W Foundation, a non-profit founded by Ken Winans and his wife Debbie Wreyford-Winans, and include American, Russian, and Soviet-era space equipment, clothing, photographs, a meteorite, and more.
