Garage Sales Galore
June 8, 2007
Posted by anonymous |Tomorrow (Saturday, 6/9) looks like it's opening day for garage sales, and for some reason, Ignacio is leading the pack. If it weren't having three little kids and their naptimes and meals and diaper changes and yada yada yada, I'd spend the entire day garage sailing in southern Novato. As it is, I'll be lucky if I get out at all.
Both Bel Marin Keys and Lanham Village (Hamilton) are having their annual neighborhood sales. It's a total park and stroll kind of deal...unless of course you've got the double stroller and the child on the side arrangement, as I do. Wah. Can you tell I'm having withdrawals from what used to be the highlight of every summer?
What's more there are smaller neighborhood sales going on in Hamilton (Newport I think) and on the the other side of the freeway (Calle de la...streets), as well as numerous single and multi-family sales throughout Ignacio. I won't even go into Novato proper, let alone the rest of Marin. You can go to Craig's List yourself to get the full scoop:

Lanham Village did me right
The sweet husband offered to babysit the two girls for an hour or so--at work, no less--so I could scavenge with the baby in tow. I spent $10.25 at Lanham Village (which was like a desert wasteland in terms of shoppers--maybe because of all the other events going on). I bought about 8 items of nice clothing for the kids, a really cool totally working Fisher-price wagon gizmo that happens to go with the little see-thru blocks I had acquired at another garage sale (had no idea they actually could be functional!), another pulley type noisy/lighting up baby toy that's a big bug (need batteries to see if it works), two movies (VHS), a couple pairs of plastic sunglasses for my two year-old who wears them inside all the time, a princess watch (needs a battery but she can't tell time so it doesn't really matter--just a bracelet for her), and scored two freebies: a onesie and a rattle.
Marin County Event-O-Rama
I put "Art" in quotes because I felt like being snarky.
Festivus
I'm not one for crowds either, and definitely not the Fairfax crowd, but I figure when the kids are older, we might try some of the more interesting sounding festivals--street painting, Greek, etc. We made it out to Pt. Reyes on Monday (our weekend is Sun/Mon which has its advantages, esp. in the summer) but ended up having to go to Heart's Desire because it was so windy on the coast. We were blessed to make it out to Limantour twice in the past few months and have perfect weather, so I should have guessed the third time would be a miss.
