Get Creative at CEC Makerspace at South Novato Library

CEC Makerspace South Novato Library

It goes without saying that STEAM (Science, Technology, Education, Art, and Math) education is a hot topic with families today. Getting kids to become "makers" working with hands-on projects is not only fun, but an important part of learning how our world today works and getting prepared for future careers. Working on STEAM activities often involves lots of expensive equipment like computers, laser cutters, soldering stations, power tools, and 3D printers, and of course a space in which to work—and that's where local maker spaces like the CEC Maker Space and Media Studio at South Novato Library come into play.

Learn to Bike! This Summer in Mill Valley.

February 19, 2016

Marin Mommies presents a sponsored article from Avid4 Adventure which offers summer camps for kids K-12th grades in Mill Valley, Oakland, Palo Alto and Saratoga. Learn more at avid4.com.

At Avid4 Adventure, we think it's never too early to introduce kids to the joys of being active outdoors. That's why our Learn to Bike! day camp helps kids age 3.5 and up embrace the fun of self-sufficient cycling.

Designed for first-time riders (or kids using training wheels or balance bikes), our half-day camp groups kids by ability and leads them through a progression of skills—walking their bikes, scooting downhill, coasting with their feet up, touching the pedals and finally pedaling—giving them the skills they need to get comfortable on two wheels. We also make time for games, art and yoga, offering campers opportunities for fun and confidence building both off and on their bikes.
