Rolling Hills Club's Free Fall Family Festival

October 23, 2013

Come to the Rolling Hills Club, Novato's family sports and fitness club, this Saturday, October 26 from 10 am to 2 pm, for their free Fall Family Festival! This free family event celebrates the season and the local community with food, fun, and a sampling of what the club has to offer.

Children's activities and fun include a bounce house and face painting on the club's pool deck and arts and crafts in the Kids Club and Entertainment Center. There will also be a "Just Keep Swimming" kids' scavenger hunt—find all the characters from the Rolling Hills Swim School and win a prize!

Moylan's Brewery and Restaurant will be serving up food, Oktoberfest-style, with bratwurst and beer on the club's pool deck from noon to 2 pm. Kids' beverage options will also be available. Live music will be provided by the Sandy Geller Jazz Trio.

Other activiites include samplers from the club's fitness studio, including yoga, Pilates, Zumba, cycling, and CoreAlign, lifeguard tests, a tennis clinic and junior playday, personal training fitness assessments, and more. There will be a special one-day-only membership special, too.

All members of the community are welcome, and it should be a lot of fun!

Easy Kids' Fall Craft: Make a Pine Cone Bird Feeder

September 28, 2013

Pine cone bird feederIt seems that on every hike or nature walk we go on, my kids pick up pine cones. They like to collect large or just nicely shaped pine cones, and we end up having a bunch of them scattered around the house most of the time.

This weekend we decided to put one of them to good use and make a pine cone bird feeder. It's a fun, inexpensive fall craft project that's easy enough for just about every child to make.

You also get the satisfaction of getting to watch wild birds eat your handiwork. We like to watch the different colorful birds in our yard (plus they also eat bugs that might go after our vegetable garden).

This project is an old favorite with many families, summer camps, and schools, and you may even remember making something similar back when you were a kid.

Here's what you'll need for the project:

The Secrets to Creating a Harmonious Home

October 3, 2012

Marin Mommies presents a guest article by Marin interior designer Hilary Sessions of Quarry Hill Design.

The kids are finally back in school and fall is here. Leaves, pumpkins, football and little ghosts and goblins will soon appear. This is a great time to spruce up your home for entertaining friends and family.

I often work with clients to see how we can make their homes more livable. Sometimes it is as simple as purging, organizing and reconfiguring furnishings. I recommend investing in good storage solutions, quality furnishings and well-edited accessories to complete the look. Here are a few ways to make your space feel more like home.

A set of matching baskets or storage bins is a great way to manage clutter.
